Racing starts at 3pm at the Agility Venue.
This year we have decided to run Beginners Individual and Advanced Individual concurrently followed by the ‘Historic Zone’ triples for the Ian Gray Trophy.
Everyone who entered is competing as numbers did not exceed the maximums. At 2 pm on Saturday 24th, The Desk will be opened at the venue. Up until 2.45 pm it will be possible to scratch, substitute, move from Beginners to Advanced and/or change dogs/handlers in teams.
We decided this year to staff the Tournament with non-competitors, as the time available to run the Tournament is strictly limited. This should speed up the racing.
If, when called, one or the other of the opponents are not on the line – that race will step down and the next race on the list will proceed. The missed race will be called once more. If one of the competitors fails to turn up within three minutes of this second call time they will forfeit and their opponent will through to the next round as a ‘Bye’.
All three courses will be straight forward and uncomplicated. The centre fences will be shade cloth and there will be catchnets behind the boxes.
Beginners will have the normal flyhurdles, three agility hurdles and one tunnel per lane in a straight line.
Advanced will have flyhurdles, three hurdles, tunnel and weaves in each lane, but will be set up for speed so will not be ‘fussy’.
Intermediate Triples (Teams) will be hurdles and a tunnel creating a bend of five past the hour or five to the hour and will be a mirror image.
Judging at Flygility Tournaments is more of a team effort than perhaps at other dog competitions. The Organisers are very pleased that the following people have made themselves available to judge on the day:
• Raewyn Saville will be the Overall Organiser, Arbitrator and Filler-of-Gaps in staffing as required.
• Advanced Judge will be Cynthia Caulfield of Rotorua Dog Obedience Club working with Call Steward Emily
McGowan and Flag Judges Louise Ray and Gina Boreham.
• Beginners Judge will be Ros Prichard of Dog Sports Rotorua working with Call Steward Karen Prichard and Flag Judges are two volunteers from Tokoroa.
• Teams Judge will be Raewyn Saville of Dog Sports Rotorua working with Call Steward Emily McGowan and Flag Judges Louise Ray and Ros Prichard. Boxes and hurdle putter-uppers will be staffed from a pool of volunteers from Dog Sports Rotorua.
